In 1837, the Yorkshire-based Tetley brothers entered the tea business. Tetley tea quickly became very popular throughout England, and brothers Joseph and Edward Tetley expanded their production to the United States in 1953. They were the first tea manufacturers in the UK to sell their tea in tea bags.
